Justin Brown joined the FOWHE Board in June, 2019.

Justin and his wife, Christina, have been parents at the school since 2012, when their oldest son, Griffin, began TK. Griffin graduated from WHE in 2019, and their two younger sons, Callum and Steffen, are in fifth and fourth grades this year, respectively.

This will be Justin’s second term serving on the Board, after previously serving as Vice President and Co-President from 2013-2015. Justin also participated on the Hiring Committee for a previous Principal and served as a Room Parent for one year. He has worked closely with both LAUSD and the City of West Hollywood to advocate for families in the community.

Justin is excited to rejoin the Board and to build on the terrific work done by the previous Board. He looks forward to meeting new families and engaging them to be a part of what makes our school the incredible place that it is-- a culture and a sense of community achieved through parent volunteers working in close collaboration with our wonderful teaching staff, principal, and administrators.

Tara joined the FOWHE Board as Co-Treasurer in the fall of 2019.

Tara and her husband, Chris, have been happy members of the West Hollywood Elementary community since their oldest daughter, Sachi, was part of the inaugural TK class in 2011. Their youngest daughter, Hana, is now in 3rd grade. Over the years, Tara has served on the Enrichments Committee, volunteered as a Room Parent, and helped out around campus whenever her work schedule allowed.

A native of Southern California, Tara has spent most of her adult life working as an attorney and legal writing professor. Now "semi-retired," she spends her time leading Hana's Girl Scout troop, chauffeuring her daughters around town, and playing tennis whenever she can.

Adam Friedman joined the FOWHE board in January, 2020.

Adam and his family have been at West Hollywood Elementary since 2017, when their daughter entered the TK program. With a passion for ensuring a high-quality education and facility for all students, Adam initially became involved with the school as a FOWHE Representative, helping the school achieve its fundraising goals.

Adam works as an Executive Leader in the affordable health care industry and enjoys spending time with his family and traveling in his spare time.

Luke Schugren joined the FOWHE board in January, 2019.

A California native, Luke grew up in the Bay Area but has spent time in the City of Angels visiting relatives from an early age.  The Schugren family has been at WeHo since 2013, currently a son in 5th grade, a son in 3rd grade and a daughter in Kinder.  A new puppy keeps Luke busy roaming Runyon canyon when he isn't organizing baseball leagues.

Jenny joined the FOWHE board in the Fall of 2020

Jenny, her husband Alan and their 2 children, Ingrid and Sebastian, moved to Los Angeles from Sweden in the fall of 2016. Ingrid is now in 5th grade and Sebastian is in 2nd grade.

This is Jenny’s first formal role within the FOWHE board and she is excited to extend her involvement beyond school events and field trips.

Jenny is amazed by the impact FOWHE has on our children's school experience.

This is Christina Brown’s ninth year in a row as a parent at WHE and her first year as a FOWHE Board Member! Christina and her husband, Justin, have three sons and have been at WHE since 2012. This year, Callum is in fifth grade, Steffen is in fourth grade, and Griffin is in seventh grade at Emerson Community Charter after graduating from WHE in 2019.

Christina loves being involved at WHE and has served nine years as a room parent, including two years overseeing all of the room parents as Room Parent Coordinator. She has served on numerous committees, including the Kindness Challenge, Gala, Halloween, Hospitality, Arts, and Stage Décor committees. She spends an inordinate amount of time laminating things and has decorated too many bulletin boards to mention!

When she isn’t volunteering, Christina works part-time as an education law attorney and has lived with her husband and their boys in West Hollywood since 1999. Although she considers herself an honorary Angeleno, she and her family love to visit Oklahoma-- where she grew up-- as often as they can to fish, ride horses, go for hayrides, and work hard at doing nothing. Christina is excited to be a Board member this year and is always happy to help other parents who want to get involved at WHE!
